Dear Friends, it is time to show you details of our scheduled lectures. Lets start with the most interesting ones. Here we present you the first three lectures.
1. From Oracle to PostgreSQL — a journey that spanned 4 years
Andrey Rynkevich will talk about unique experience their company had. During 4 years they were purposefully moving big project from Oracle to PostgreSQL. Not many would dare to tell about the details of moving from commercial base to open-source tool. This lecture is also very relevant nowadays, because of imprort substitution trend in Russia.
One more important thing is that the talk will be dedicated to technical specs rather then business processes.
2. Application server on pl/pgsql: a point of view from the side of business
Secondly we want to introduce you Artem Makarov, whose talk will be about non-IT company, that built info-system on PostgreSQL and pl/pgsql. How they decided, why exactly pl/pgsql? Look on stereotypes of software market and myths about procedures.
The story of developing, launching and first 6 year of exploitation. Artem will say, how they write code, develop system and improve productivity. And the most exciting - look on 10 years back, analysis of mistakes and lucky decisions - what was the benefit of the company by choosing pl/pgsql as a platform: financial, technical and staff pros.
3. PostgreSQL concepts
No need to introduce Alexander Korotkov from Postgres Professional. His work on developing and optimization of the processes is well-known among the community.
On the conference Alex will open technicaly complex topic: how PostgreSQL resolves ACID realization while keeping high productivity. You will find out why MVCC, WAL and many other optimizations are part of high productive realization of ACID principles.
Also we will talk about realisation of this machinery on PostgreSQL and how it reflects on user visible features.
