Open Source Databases: the Path to the Enterprise Core
In the last ten years, open source databases have made a tremendous leap from being mainly used for Web applications and non-business-critical systems, to heavy adoption by enterprise core business-critical applications around the world. This presentation looks at the history of enterprise open source adoption, why enterprises adopt open source software and answers some of their questions and concerns.
We will also examine how enterprises should choose open source software, and how they can successfully select applications that easily use open source databases.
Finally, we will talk about how the community can work together to help build up the reputation of open source databases, and continue to grow adoptions by enterprises and governments globally.
