Dear speakers, call for papers is open, deadline — June 7!
What are the main areas of focus here at play? Development and integration using PostgreSQL, outstanding use-cases, success stories, adjustments and configuration, scalable, high availability systems, data migration, evolvement of new functionality and expansion of the database. In particular we are welcoming theses with a strong technical background and details.
The selection process of the presentations will be nothing but brutally honest, transparent and fair. Please, make sure that you have picked and worked out the concept of your work rigorously before submitting your application to avoid disappointment.
We are interested in talks on the following subjects:
-
Interesting use-cases of operating PostgreSQL in high volume systems.
Practice is the most important factor in daily job of a technical specialist. The key goal of our venture is to help attendees find ways to overcome issues they encounter in their work. We are looking not only for stories of success, but those of failure and conclusions that were drawn from such experiences as well. -
PostgreSQL internals.
Do you know something about Postgres' internals? Did you spend sleepless nights reading source code, struggling to understand how does the favorite RDBMS function? Share your experiences! -
Migration to PostgreSQL from Oracle, MySQL, DB2, MSSQL.
The subject of migration from one storage system to another enjoys a great deal of popularity these last few years. Every migration is a unique and in many ways unrepeatable story that will aid your colleagues who might be facing the same task not to lose themselves in vast arrays of approaches and possibilities. -
PostgreSQL and database training.
With each day we encounter more and more cases of applying PostgreSQL to the task of educating young specialists on the subject of databases. Neither should we overlook the subject of teaching seasoned professionals that already possess numerous experiences with the other storage systems skills of managing PostgreSQL. -
Using PostgreSQL in enterprise systems.
PostgreSQL finds its way into the infrastructure not only of Web projects and small businesses, but of scarier organisations such as governmental institutions, banks and heavy industry. Cases of successful integration of PostgreSQL into daily operations of such companies will serve as food for thought and might even affect those individuals who assess the potential profits that might come from using an open source product in a large business entity. -
Tuning and performance optimization of PostgreSQL.
We would love to have any talk that is saturated with gritty technical details of how did you make your Postgres and its underlying infrastructure (OS, hardware, etc.) behave in a satisfying manner. -
Extending PostgreSQL's functionality.
Have you written your own extension for Postgres? Successfully guided a patch through the whole development cycle? Make sure that you share the experience, community needs talented contributors :-) -
Scaling PostgreSQL.
Our attendees would love to hear stories about all kinds of high performance solutions: clusters, load balancing, single- and multi-master replication set-ups and other means of achieving high levels of availability in high volume systems.
Looking forward to receiving your applications. Good luck!
