The conference is very close, and we have almost completed presentation of the upcoming program. Now we want to talk about our workshops. Workshop or tutorial - is a very popular activity at PostgreSQL events. A speaker devotes several hours (rather than traditional 30-45 minutes per talk) to make the most detailed and "meticulous" report on the proposed topic. At PG Day, we made a whole special day dedicated to four full scale tutorials.

It covers PostgreSQL network communication, query parsing, optimizer plan selection, multiversion concurrency control (MVCC), and internal storage characteristics. It does not require any programming knowledge.

During a couple of hours we will talk about several types of loosely structured data in PostgreSQL, particularly, about arrays, full text search, hstore (key-value) and jsonb. You will learn about their current functionality, as well as our plans for their improvement.
